[ TESTIMONIALS ]
Life is a changing balance.
This emblem is a simple visual depiction of change and balance, two focal concepts of the Yijing† (Classic of Changes), the philosophical basis of Chinese medicine. It is based on a representation of the Yinyang Taiji diagram by Han Bangqi, a Ming Dynasty classical scholar. The Yijing is an ancient text which organizes profound observations of the essential patterns in nature, time, and space. Its message has defined and directed aspects of Chinese culture for millennia, including the theory and practice of medical science.
Centered within the emblem on the homepage is the word Yi. It connotes a three-fold principle of fluency (Bian Yi), constancy (Bu Yi), and simplicity (Jian Yi). The character consists of two ideographs, Ri and Yue – the sun above and the moon below – in dynamic interaction. Thus, it concisely represents the changing balance between solar and lunar forces in particular and among all universal dualities in general:

Furthermore, the navigation bar and homepage, in linear and circular format,
respectively, display the Bagua (Eight Trigrams). It is a framework which organizes the tertiary (23 = 8)
transformations derived from the secondary (22 = 4) stages – Taiyang, Shaoyang, Shaoyin, Taiyin
– and primary (21 = 2) division of Yinyang, the relative coexistence of all phenomena.
Each of the Bagua is given a name – Qian, Dui, Li, Zhen, Xun, Kan, Gen, Kun – and associated with aspects
of the natural world, including the human body and its processes. Click on the image below for more detail:
